Solving for Today.
Preparing for Tomorrow.

We are in the depths of winter here in Chicago with clouds, snow & cold. But things will warm up quickly. In a couple of short weeks, we will migrate south with about 40,000 like-minded individuals to attend the big healthcare IT confab in Orlando – HIMSS17. We invite you to stop by and say hello. We’ll be at Booth #4448.

In preparation for the event, our staff collaborated and crafted a HIMSS17 guide, offering tips to navigate the conference and providing a look at key sessions. Speaking of HIMSS sessions, one of our Lead Consultants, Max Stroud, HIMSS17 Social Media Ambassador, will be presenting with her sister in what will be a moving and compelling presentation: Don’t you know me? Interoperability: A Patient Narrative. Below is a brief abstract:

Two Sisters: One thriving with cancer, the other, a HealthIT consultant & social worker, join forces to document and explore a patient's relationship to her health data. They will explore a narrative that reaches across care in at least three states and a multitude of settings, from stage 4 to no evidence of disease.

Outside of readying for HIMSS, we’ve been working feverishly on development and aggregation of complimentary resources for our clients. In this Newsletter, we present our top 10 favorite health IT resources. These invaluable resources allow us to keep a pulse on the market, determine what content will be meaningful to create and present to our clients, and which services and solutions we should evaluate and potentially synthesize in anticipation of meeting our clients' needs.

On the webinar front, today at 1PM EST, several of our consultants will share best practices, insights, and lessons learned from the field, as they’ve managed and supported the mission-critical clinical applications that our clients rely on. Join us for the complimentary webinar: Application Management & Support Best Practices: Reducing Costs and Gaining Operational Efficiencies and Flexibility.

We are also thrilled to announce HealthSystemCIO has launched registration for a complimentary webinar we are sponsoring on 3/8 at 12PM EST: Exploring & Evaluating Healthcare Data Archival Methodologies & Strategies. Our Vice President of Product Development, Robert Downey, will be elaborating on a whitepaper he recently authored, explaining the various approaches to clinical data archival. Join us to gain a better understanding of marketplace options and an appreciation of the legal and compliance implications.

Our Newsletter also reports on:

  • Recognition of our employees continued growth and dedication to Galen and to our clients with recent promotion and certification announcements;
  • Continuation of the CHIME Interview series featuring Jeff Weil, CIO, District Medical Group, Daniel Morreale, CIO, Hunterdon Healthcare System, and Susan Carman, CIO, United Health Services;
  • Continuation of our data migration blog series, where we consider pediatric needs in data migrations.

I hope that you find this information helpful, and as always, we welcome your feedback.

Steve Brewer, Chief Executive Officer
