ENGINUITY is a rapidly deliverable clinical content package that harvests the power of MEDITECH Rules Engine to streamline clinical workflow, drive care, and automate documentation. Our content concepts are crowd sourced by MEDITECH users and designed by Galen’s Rule Writing Engineers. We take pride in our “You ask, We Listen” design philosophy as we work together with frontline users who provide a unique perspective into a clinicians daily workflow. ENGINUITY tools are designed to help MEDITECH users focus less on documentation and more on patient care. Estimated delivery times are less than one month and we’ll do all the nerdywork. Our Focus Group

Being part of the focus group has been exciting, as well as rewarding, and I have been able to bring the perspective of a small critical access hospital to the table. We have the same needs as the bigger hospitals with less resources to do the work. To participate in the evolution of the rules package has been gratifying and amazing. I am seeing rules create solutions that I couldn’t even imagine were possible. The content that’s been developed is sleek and intuitive and I am excited to see what the Galen team develops next.

What kind of figures support the cost and time savings associated with ENGINUITY?

The content housed within the ENGINUITY enterprise solution suggests a wide range of benefits, ranging from cash releasing (enforcing protocols to meet MU and other government protocol mandates) and quantifiable benefits (significant click reduction, reduction of medical errors, never events, unsatisfactory patient outcomes, increased patient and provider satisfaction) to indirectly associated benefits (avoidance of penalties, turnover due to poor system satisfaction).

Our calculators and tools are diligently researched and follow clinical protocols and government mandates. If you have a question on an individual tool, we can provide the clinical research and algorithms used in that calculation and medical journals used in its design.

How long does it take in implement ENGINUITY?

Content directly from the ENGINUITY enterprise package takes one month or less to implement from when we are provided the system access we need. The Galen team will do all the Nerdywork, which includes building, testing, training, implementation and maintenance.

If using our problem drivers, we just ask for verification of the ICD-10 codes extracted from the Value Set Authority for each unique condition you will need evaluated in the rule. This review and sign off process should not be taxing on staff, and on average takes 1-2 days to turn around.

Why should we use rules more widely when we currently don't?

The Rules Engine is one of the most underutilized dictionaries within the MEDITECH system due to its complexity and lack of education surrounding build, design and execution. Rules (as attributes, reports and macros did in previous platforms) can take an adequately designed system and turn it into a highly functioning clinical decision support machine. Rules are by far the most efficient way to optimize your MEDITECH system without the added overhead of switching platforms, EHR vendors, or integrating best of breed solutions into your enterprise EMR.

Our ENGINERDs are here to help you get started with taking system utilization, satisfaction, and revenue growth to the next level.
